The Mariamman Temple is one of the most famous and ancient temples in Ooty. It is dedicated to Goddess Mariamman, who is considered the goddess of rain and protector from diseases. The temple is located right in the heart of Ooty town, near the market area, making it easily accessible to both locals and tourists.
Legend says that two divine sisters — Mariamman and Kaliamman — appeared under a tree in Ooty, and later, a temple was built in their honor. The shrine reflects traditional South Indian architecture, with a colorful gopuram (tower) decorated with intricate sculptures of deities and mythological figures.
